Nice cabinet photograph of a group of miners and likely investors standing in front of the entrance to the Forest Queen Gold Mining & Tunnel Company gold mine. The Forest Queen is a gold mine located in Boulder County, Colorado. Some miners are posed with a loaded ore cart and two men in suits stand bye. Photo by Paul Balsiger & Co of Denver Colorado. Was a photographer based in Denver.
He worked for Denver photographer, Frederick E. Post, before taking a position with William Henry Jackson. Around 1900 Balsiger and his sister opened their own studio which they operated for about a decade. The Denver Post frequently published his work.
9 ½" x 7 ¾". Trimmed right to the image edges. Photographers stamp on the back very faded. Nice clean and sharp sepia image.
