The shop was leased by Hollywood columnist Jimmy Starr from 1956 thru 1959, the shop was managed by Ray & Sally Gruber friends of the actor with significant experience in working at Los Angeles most famous nightclubs: Slapsie Maxie's Cafe; Billy Gray's Band Box; etc. Jimmy had a special arrangement with the major studios.
